It has been a long journey these past two and a half years since I first began writing “Meet.” I had never imagined the scope of this project from its inception and the amount of personal emotions it would cause me. I know this for certain, however, I would never have completed this work without the support, incite, and appreciation of my readers, many of whom have become close personal friends. I read every email that came my way and was very surprised at the effect “Meet” has had on some and this has been touching to me beyond description. I would just like to quickly mention some of those who have been instrumental in the progress of this piece: Kevin, Chris, Eric, Gabe, Derek, and all my friends who have been so supportive of me after coming out.
To those of you who may be literary critics or just happen to know Latin, I would like to assure you that the ending was most certainly not a “deus ex machina.” I have thought very carefully of the ending of “Meet” and I also assure you that the ending (including the identity of the anonymous caller) will tie in heavily to my next story, which I am currently writing.
While I do not consider “Meet” to be a novel due to its length (a novel by standard definition is >60k words, Meet was ~47k), I plan in the future to add a few minor touches to the story to extend and elaborate further a few things.
Again, I thank everyone who has read “Meet” and been so supportive of me and the story. I know it sounds cliché, but it is the truth; without you this would never have been possible.
Thank you all so very much,
-Ryan
