Purpose of the Awards
The purpose of this award is to promote the positive portayal of Gays and Lesbians on the Internet and provide content that is informative, interesting and of value to users. The award serves to encourage and promote the use of the Internet by gays and lesbians to explore, interact and share their experiences to people of all nationalities, colour and sexuality. The Internet has become a wonderful medium for helping isolated gays and lesbians to interact with each other and discover that they are not alone in the world. The award recognises excellence in web site design, content and implementation whether the site is hosted on a free web server or under its own domain. Too many websites on the web for gays and lesbians are simply entry points for pornography and other adult orientated material. This award is not awarded to sites which are pornographic or promote illegal, hateful or racist material.
