Get me
The New Look is almost here
I have been really working hard over the last week in building the new look for the site and I have also started to fix alot of the niggly problems with the site.
I have created a new template for the entire site, although I haven't yet designed the new logo eeeeeek I need healp, if any of you are really really amazing at graphic design email me and I will tell you what I am trying to do.
If I can get some time inth e next few days I will start transferring the new files up to the site and start replacing all the pages on the site with the new look. I am trying to make sure that the site works perfectly before I put the new stuff up.
In the meantime sit back and enjoy looking around, oh and all the pages will still stay the same names so you can still bookmark away!

I have been reviewing a whole lot of log analysis programs for a client and have been using the Superdrewby logs as a way of validating that the logs give the correct analsyis of the logs. For a long time I have thought that the site isnt getting more than bout 100 unique vistors day, but to my absolute suprise the site is getting between 500 - 1000 unique vistors every day, which is rreally amazing!
The most popular page on the site is unsuprisingly the pictures page, but the stories page is also in the top ten pages so I am really excited about that as well!
So keep on promoting the site and I will be redeveloping soon
Ive worked out the problem
I need to reset the archives of this page so it only lists one blog a day - it all started when I did multiple blogs on the same day so I have to fix the tables version of this before the page will be back to normal
Sorry About This Page - But the Site is still fully functional otherwsieI really need to site down and debug this page, I think that I have not set up multiple days posts properly and tyhat is why the page has been up the creek. I am going to try and fix it later today and will hope it gets back to normal Fingers crossed

The World Trade Centre Bombing
Last night Lee and I were watching our normal Tuesday night fare of West Wing when we heard of the tragedy in New York and then watched the live coverage of the unfolding disaster as the second plane hit, the buildings collapsing and the Pentagon being hit as well.
We were totally freaked out watching all this in disbelief wondering what was going to happen next, wondering if this was the start of the campaign or the end of the campaign. We are still in a state of shock and disbelief and herre at the office we are talking about almost nothing else. I have heard throught he grapevine that one of our staff had a friend who was killed in the WTC.
If you are interested in tracking people's reaction to this and also finding people who are in New York, Blogger has set up a special tracker for all the blogs on the topic at http://page.blogger.com/search_attack.pyra. An interesting blog of someone nearby is at Andy's Chest and another at http://www.broadwaystars.com/ this one is very personal and very relevant.
All I can say is that I would like to bextend my sympathy and heartfelt thoughts to everyone in New York at the moment and especially the Superdrewby members who are there. I have sent an email to all Superdrewby members in New York and sent my thoughts and hope that they and their loved ones are safe.
Where have all the Poofters Gone?
Lee and I met some friends over the weekend and went out to a movie on Oxford Street on Saturday Night. Oxford Street for those of you not in Australia is supposed to be the gay mecca of Sydney, known as the golden mile for it;s gay clubs and pubs. We havent really been out much on a Saturday night on Oxford Street for a while and I was really disappointed with what we found.
We left the cinema about 11:30pm and wandered towards home. Usually on a Saturday night the street is buzzing with gay guys wandering from club to club and the eating houses are full of queer folk as well. It is one of the places in Sydney that I usually feel totally safe holding ahnds with lee at night.
This Saturday night was really different and quite depressing. Instead of playing spot the straight on the street, instead it was hard to see any queer people at all. The majority of the people walking around were straight guys and gilrs and their reaction to seeing a same sex couple holding hands was not friendly in the slightest. We received dirty looks and a lot of scowls on peoples faces. The biggest suprise was the number of straight boys who were openly hostile to us.
I just couldn't believe that Oxford Street has now gone almost totally straight and we were in the minority in the one place that for the last twenty years has been a safe place for gays and lesbians. The number of gay and lesbian venues or even mixed venues is in decline with more closing every month, whilst the clubs that cater for straights is on the rise on Oxford Street.
Now while this may seem like a rather narrow minded attitude and many people would say that we want and need only have mixed venues etc, that would be fine if the the straight crowd was ok mixing waith gay guys and girls but the simple fact is that the crowd that has now overturned oxford street is not comfortable with the gays and lesbians and they are openly hostile.
In a way I liken the effect to having a party were you invite all your friends over. Your friends invite some friends and then their friends invite some more. Pretty soon you and your friends are in the minority at your own party in your own house. The univited guests start to take over the party and your house, changing your music and not respecting your rules until they have taken over and it is no longer your party. That's how it feels to me. I don't have a problem with mixed venues but I have an enormous problem when people take over and don't have respect for the people that were there first or who built it up.
I don't generally go to strtaight pubs or clubs, because I don't feel safe going there, i can't hold my partner's hand or give him a peck ont he cheek or show any affection without putting myself in danger of being beaten up. It's not an over reaction on my behalf, the reason why gay clubs and pubs flourished was so queer people could go somewhere without fear for their safety and know that if they act like "normal" couples and pick up, kiss etc they aren't going to be in physical danger from the more physical homophobes in society.
Let's face it, yes gays and lesbians are a lot more visible in today's society and they have more rights than they did say twenty years ago, but the reality is that we are still not accepted by the majority of society. People stop and stare at us when we walk down the street holding hands, mothers pull their children out of our way, they point whisper and make comments or hurl abuse at us.
Two weeks ago Lee and I were walking down our own street holding hands when some idiot in a c ar yelled out a homphobic remark at us. That would be fine if we lived in suburbia where gay and lesbian couples were unusual, But we live in an area with the highest concentrations of gays and lesbians in the whole of Australia!
To my mind it's time we started to stand up against the tide and started to reclaim our community, and remind people that Oxford street is a place for open minded people not closed minded bigots. Oxford Street used to be safe for everyone, regardless of whether they were gay, straight, transgender or bisexual. We are being pushed out of our own space and our own heritage and community is being decimated.
I have wondered where the gay and lesiban community is going and I am writing an article of my feelinhgs abut the decline in the gay and lesbain community which I will publish online soon.

Gay Role Models for Queer Youth
Yesterday afternoon after the day of slaving was over at work, we had a discussion about ingrained homophobia and the concept of assimilation of gays and lesbians into society. I am writing a column for this site about my feelings on this and the disappearing gay and lesbian community in Sydney where I live - Stay tuned for this.
But one of the interesting things about the disappearing gay and lesbian community is the growth in under 18 dance parties and venues. Recent statistics in Australia have suggested that incidents of homophobia such as violence and villification are increasing, which in itself is a worry. However we were trying to identify role models for gay youth of today and i had a really hard time identifying anyone. The few that I could come up with were:

Monday Morning
Another weekend has passed and a new week has started, so why do I feel like I need a holiday? The weekends go far to short and two days is just not long enough to unwind. This weekend has been very special, because it was the first official aniversay of my relationship with Lee, aw how sweet! He is a gorgeous and stunning boy and I love him very very much.
We had a stunning weekend staying at a hotel on Saturday night and having a special dinner which was really really fabulous!
Trying to work out presents is alsways a difficult one, but he bought me something very special and thoughtful, a pair of lovely cufflinks from Baubridge and Kay....I love cufflinks because they are the only jewelry that I wear and it was soooooo sweet. The rest of the weekend was spent going to my and his parents for lunch and dinner on the Sunday as it was Father;s Day in Australia.
My father who is normally very stoic made a real statment about us as well which was very special, although he knows I ma gay and knows that lee is my partner he actually made reference to it for the first time and so that was very very specail!
