Jay Brannan

We saw Jay Brannan live last night at the Oxford Art Factory (It seems I have been there a lot of Late, The Aria's after party from Speaker.tv, Lenker's SONY BMG Promo and then last night for Jay).

He has a stunnigly good voice and a great patter between the audience and himself which is lots of fun and very lively.

Here is a clip from the movie Shortbus which threw him into all of our knowledege!

and here is Soda Shop!

Banksy art is graffiti, rules town hall

London's Westminster Council says a work by underground artist Banksy is graffiti and will be painted over.

The seven-metre tall work, painted in giant white letters on a concrete wall in April, was intended as a criticism of Britain's Big Brother culture and specifically the prevalence of CCTV cameras.

"One Nation Under CCTV", it screams, from a wall on which a CCTV camera is also mounted.
A child figure perched in a letter appears to be painting the message on the wall, which overlooks a post office yard in Oxford Circus.

The work, Banksy's biggest in London, was painted under the cover of darkness after the artist managed to erect three storeys of scaffolding behind a security fence, despite being watched by the CCTV camera.

But Westminster Council says the work will be painted over, The Times reported today.

The council says it will remove any graffiti, regardless of the reputation of its creator.

Banksy has no more right to paint graffiti than a child, the council says.

"If we condone this then we might as well say that any kid with a spray can is producing art," Robert Davis, the chairman of Westminster's planning committee, told The Times.

"To go and deface other peoples property is graffiti. Just because he's famous doesn't give him that right."

Banksy started out as a street artist, but his work is now coveted by celebrities and has earned him a lot of money.

In February, his Andy Warhol-inspired screen print of supermodel Kate Moss sold for STG96,000 ($A210,550) at a street art auction in London.

And a wall he had painted sold for STG208,100 ($A453,700).

Banksy's work has been bought by actress Angelina Jolie and singer Christina Aguilera.

Some Financial Humor

Investment analyst and guru Dr. Marc Faber concluded his monthly bulletin (June 2008) with the Following:''

The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China. If we spend it on gasoline it goes to the Arabs. If we buy a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Germany. If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in US. I've been doing my part.'

Where has the week gone?

I just don't know where the time has been going the last couple of weeks and months.

I just can't believe it's not butter, ahem I mean Thursday.

I was so convinced yesterday that it was Tuesday I have doubled up on my cardio for the week and will also double up on my chest workouts this week because I did an extra one last Saturday.

I am still a bit wary of how much I am eating at the moment, the whole eating so much more is weird and goes against everything I deep down trust.

Whilst I know that eating more protein and then actually eating carbs during the day for energy is important I still find it a bit weird none the less.

And just to finish on gratuitous flesh, last night two friends were Jelly wrestling at the Shift Hotel on Oxford street, yes Jelly wrestling and here it is in all it's fun glory!

Contempary Art Sales are Stagnant

A London dealer, John Austin, said it was the worst-performing auction he had seen since 1991.

"There's been an awful lot of speculation. We've got to get back to the real market where people buy things because they really like them."

So Much Going On!

There is so much going on at the moment.

I don't mean just with me but I mean in the world, what with the upcoming US Elections, the world economic crisis, Troopergate, Madonna's world tour and my upcoming holidays that I am looking forward to.

Did you notice how I just went from such important to non important issues in the shake of a sentence, cool huh?

Seriously though life is as busy as I think it has ever been with work just rocketing along at a million miles an hour.

I think like so many people I am waiting with more than a little apprehension to see what exactly the economy of the world does in the next few months. Work wise we are fine until the end of the year then who knows?

But it's small business and it's hard to project more than a few months at the best of times anyway.

I worry about the customers I seek, will they still have money to spend on our services? Will the market collapse?

So many questions and so much uncertainty.

On a totally selfish note we are off to the States in 6 weeks and our spending ability has been decreased with the tanking of the Australian dollar, down 20 cents in the last two weeks, that's a huge chunk of money that we could have been spending.

And of course in three weeks time the US Elections will be held. I refuse to even contemplate who will win at the moment, as they say it ain't over till the fat lady sings and she ain't sung yet.

I have to say that Palin makes my blood boil, her particular vies on homosexuality, abortion and fiscal policies (or lack thereof) are just so incongruous with my own.

But as she says, at this moment she is just a few heart beats away from the presidency of the United States of America.

Watching the You Tube videos of the McCain / Palin supporters shout out that Obama is a terrorist, or he is a Muslim etc just makes me shake my head in dis belief, because you know I just don't want to think about the fact that the majority of middle America is like that!

Talking about middle America and middle Australia, one of my clients has a stand at the Sydney Car Show this week and had one of the best statements about middle Australia, she said,

"I have never seen so many pregnant men and skinny women"

Loves it!

Is it already Wednesday?

I don;t know where this week is going, what with the shorter week from the holiday Monday and the amount of work I have to get done this week it's already Monday afternoon!

The weekend was lots of fun, Sleaze, Arq, Recovery at ours, Recovery at friends and then an amazing Frisky party.

Hugely fun and loads of laughs and good times, although with the workload the way it is right now I could have done with working all weekend too.

A longer post will follow!

The seven week workout wrap up

I went for my seven week DXA scan to track my workout progress this afternoon.

I have definitely been feeling the effects of working out, my waist is much trimmer and I feel much better.

To recap though, last time I weighed about 70 kgs and had 18.2% body fat.

I estimated I would be about the same weight and would have somewhere between 15 - 17% body fat (I was hoping for about 16%).

The results have kind of thrown me though.

My weight is down to 68 kgs and I am about 17% body fat which roughly equates to losing 1kgs of fat and about 1kg of lean muscle.

This is not a particularly good result as I wanted to increase my muscle mass and decrease my fat.

So this afternoon when I see my trainer we will have to have a chat about the workouts and goals etc.

I think looking at the results, I need to cut the cardio almost entirely from the workouts apart from the sprints at the start of each workout. And my diet needs some serious tweaking too, with A LOT more protein than I have been having.

I truth we only just started to have protein shakes after a workout in the last two weeks and I have totally changed my diet so that I am eating much much less.

I feel rather disappointed but it's good to know that I have at least changed my shape and using the DXA scans I can tweak the work out and the diet.

At least I am looking good for sleaze ball this weekend!

The picture is the rest of the picture taken at a party a few weekends ago and I do look lean, I just would have like to have to have gained some muscle not lost it!
On the up side my resting heart rate has gone down to in the low 50s which means I am fit and healthy.
*sigh*

Sometimes people say the nicest things

I changed my Facebook profile picture because I felt like a change and someone just commented that I look 25, and thanked photoshop.

I would just like to publicly state that in fact the picture was taken not even two weeks ago and there was no photoshopping involved!

And the sunnies hide the crows feet!

Bless!

Follow that you bitches heheheheh

Saraha pailin Confirms you can Pray away the Gay!

This bitch is twisted:

Palin responded: "But what you're talking about, I think, value here, what my position is on homosexuality and you can pray it away, because I think that was the title that was listed on that bulletin. And you know, I don't know what prayers are worthy of being prayed. I don't know what prayers are going to be asked and answered. But as for homosexuality, I am not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their adult personal relationships. I have one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years happens to be gay, and I love her dearly. And she is not my 'gay friend,' she is one of my best friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn't a choice I would have made. But I am not going to judge people."

I wonder what her 'friend' thinks of her comments!
