Geek in the Pink

Since the adorbale S&C from Swede and Czech called me hot and said that I could pull being a geek off (mmmm flattery will get you everywhere), I decided to showcase Geek in Pink by the adorable and very talented Jason Mraz (see my review of him here).

So for your viewing and listening pleasure, Geek in the Pink from MrAZ.

Unusual Epiphany

I had a rather startling understanding a few days ago.

People prefer to be lied to rather than face change.

No this is not about me or something I have or haven't done, this is about our current political leaders and politics in general. In Australia we have had the right wing Liberal / National Coalition in power for over ten years, and our Prime Minister is John Howard.

During this time period John Howard has been caught out on some huge lies, not small ones mind you and not the *I didn't know" ones either. These are out and out lies.

  • Children Overboard
  • Costello Howard Handover
  • No Interest Rate Rises
You can scroll down and read about each of these. My point is not about what the lies are but the public's acceptance and approval of the lies. Recent polls have suggested that people believe Howard lies, but they would still vote for him!

So let's get this straight, you can lie and get caught out, but that's OK for people? Remember George Bush Senior and his bald faced lie that he would not increase taxes if he was voted in as President? He knew it was a lie (everyone did after the overspending of Reagan) but he said it with a straight face. His opponent honsetly admitted that yes taxes would probably have to be increased to pay the debt off.

The American people knew the truth, but they still voted for the person who told them what they wanted to hear and not the truth whichb was harder to hear.

Look I am not a naiive person by any shake of the leg and I am not a morals high horse either. But if there is no truth anywhere and there is no accountability anymore what do we have left? We are supposed to live in a democracy (yeah right that went out the window years ago), but we now live in a semi dictatorial society where we are lied to and the vast majority of people accept this as the norm.

I am starting to thing there now needs to be a revolution! So let's rise up and tell lies too, after all who cares we just need to tell better lies than they are!

The Children Overboard Scandal
Just before the previous Federal Election a boat carrying refugees was sinking in front of an Australian warship. Pictures were taken that looked like the parents were throwing their children overboard. Howard and the Liberal party used this issue to deflect attention away from other issues and the ploy worked, returning the Liberal Coalition to power. However the refugees were doing no such thing, in fact the parents were tryigto save the lives of their children as their ship sank. Howard had been told in the days leading up the election the truth, but he denies this, subsequently when the truth did come out Howard just ignored the fact that he had lied consitently to the Australian people even after he knew the truth.

Costello / Howard Handover
Recently the Federal Treasurer has publicly akcnowledged that Howard agreed to give up the Leadership after a specified time period. Other people in the meeting corraborated the the information, but yet again John Howard denies denies denies.

No new Interest Rate Rises Under a Liberal Coalition Government
Well let's just say that history speaks for itself and the rises we have already had show up that porky.

Mobile Blogging

I am a huge geek (Geek - someone who loves technology and gadgets) and since I work in a technology / design business I need to keep up with trends in technology.

For years I have been going to sales calls with my noebook computer, doing my presentation and showcasing our products all offline.

Well no more will I ever be offline, now thanks to the wonders of th 3 Netcomm Mobile Broadband I am able to be online no matter where I am!

Now many of you will go so what, mobile access has been around for years, and yes it has been but until the advent of the 3G network in Australia it was slow and very expensive! Products such as iBurst or unwired showed great promise but rarely lived up to their potential.

My company's products need a good quality Internet connection not necessarily broadband but at least better than GPRS which is so slow you could wait a month for a page to download!

Being the road warrior that I am I also need a notebook computer that is light weight and has a good battary life. I have been using the Sony Vaio Z1 for about 3 years now, it's a great computer and at only 1.6kgs small enough to lug around all the time.

Unfortunatley it is fast coming to the end of it's lifespan, the battery last less than an hour. The computer also only has a maximum of 512mb Ram which is very limiting these days for graphic intensive applications like Photoshop etc.

I am a fan of the Sony notebooks (No I am not moving to a Mac as much as I love them because of the lack of support for business applications taht I need for my business) , and Sony have released the newest equivalant of my current computer the VAIO 13.3" PRESTIGE NOTEBOOK VGNSZ28GP.

Pretty impressive stats on this machine!

  • Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology, Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2.0GHz)
  • 1GB DDR2 SDRAM
  • 100GB HDD
  • Wireless LAN: IEEE 802.11a/b/g
  • DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL (Double Layer)
  • Display: 13.3" Wide (WXGA 1280 x 800)
  • USB
  • Bluetooth
  • MIC
  • Built in Camera etc

So when I come round to replacing the notebook I think this one will be it!

On my way to my goals

I haven't really updated on how I am going towards my body goals over the last week or so, mainly because I am still so damn busy with work!

My goal as stated when I resurrected this blog was to get back in shape and lose the spare tire that was creeping in around my tummy.

My Challenge to myself was:

My Body challenge Reduce Body Fat to 11% by the end of July 2006 Do four
weights workouts a week Do two 40 minute high intensity cardio sessions a week Cut out 95% of all bad foods in my diet Restrict my calorie intake to 1500 a day Over the next few weeks I am going to detail my struggle with my body challenge to see what happens!

At the moment with less than a week left of the month where am I am my goal?

I weigh somewhere between 72 - 73kgs, my belt buckle has gone down by two notches which indicates it have lost somewhere between an inch and an inch and a half around my waist.

I have averaged 5 weighs workouts a week and five 40 minute cardio sessions of 40 minutes a week.

I stopped using that damn bodyfat calculation machine because it is just downright evil! Instead I use the much less scientific but better pinch test around my tummy. I estimate that the amount of fat I can grab is at least half less so not too bad going.

Whilst I have not got the entire stomach back down to my halcyon days of the perfect 12 pack abs (yes when I met the boy I had a twelve pack), but my body has improved dramatically, and because I have been doing a great workout designed to help build my muscles and fix my posture, both my posture and my chest/back have expanded!

So how do I feel? Well apart from having been out clubbing on Friday night for my Birthday celebration I feel excellent. My mental outlook on life has calmed and I feel that I am in charge of my body.

I have however been very lax this week with food (it was my birthday week after all). I admit a few days I had takeaway food that was laden with fat, and I have been eating chocolate biscuits too! My body is telling me about those excesses today trust me!

So all in all I am happy with where I have reached so far. I am going to set a new challenge in the next couple of days and I am going to throw the guantlet down for other blog readers who wnat to get fit too!

Sometime this week I will als0 be getting a new program from the gorgeous and talented Davey to replace my workout which I have been diligently following for the last six weeks or so!

Looking for a dog bed / house

I am a pretty hard person to get things for, and I am even more difficult when it comes to things that will be in my home, so not suprisingly looking for a dog house for Lucy is a difficult process.

The problem is I've found one that I absolutely love, but there is a catch, it is $900 for an indoor dog house. Granted it is an Italian Design and is even archived in a few modern art and style museums!

So here is the dog house I want, but don't think I will be getting for Lucy :)

The Magis Dog House Designed by Michael Young.

And it would so go with our other Puppy -

Puppy was purchased back when I wasn't allowed to get a real dog and was designed for Magis too.

There is one more potential dog house, but I can't find the design in Australia, The Bau Dog House....

Permission

care of Damon over at Naked City Boys This is very thought provoking indeed!

In other news, I have had a huge shout out from the very entertaining, extremely sexy Downunderpants, who has given me such a cool review :)

But and this is a huge BUT, he thought originally that I was married to a woman not my poor ever suffering husband ROTFLMAO, I simply could not believe it! Me straight, or at least trying to pretend to be straight is akin to looking at a hedgehog and calling it a cabbage (not that I am dennigrating either hedgehogs or cabbages).

Since I have restarted blogging I have really started to enjoy the daily musings of my life, not so much because I have a complex and want people to worship me (there is a bit of that insecurity there) but more so because it also allows me to unload certain things off of my chest.

My very large obsession with my body shape and the level of body fat, is probably one example of how the blog and riting about my progress does actually help keep me motivated.

I have essentially got back to where my body was about two years ago now which is really fantastic and I am now bursting through that plateau I had in terms of muscle growth.

HNT

I so love the thought of showing different parts of my body for HNT hehehe. I am feeling a lot better today, much less bored. I think partially because I have almost finished this huge project that has been hanging over my head, that and I am having tommorow and Monday kind of off from work, well I am not going into the office anyway lol.

I dropped by to say Hi to Darien from At My Worst and Best this afternoon on my walk home, but like my normal luck he was at lunch. I was reading his article on Darren Hayes getting married to his same sex partner and then doing a bit of news surfing on the issue.

No I must start off by saying that I have known that Darren was gay for years so it was not an issue and I had assumed that everyone else knew as well. But I was wrong! Apparently this is huge news to the mainstream press and has been on the front cover of newspapers the world over.

Coming up in about 8 weeks or so is the boy and my seventh anniversary of meeting, and early next year will be our third wedding anniversary. That is just so cool!

So congrats to Darren!

I'm in a Mood

I'm in a mood today, well I have been for the last couple of days. Not exactly down, not exactly up, just kind of mwah.

I have been working really hard the last couple of months and especially over the last couple of weeks finishing up a huge project deliverable while letting all sorts of other work pile up. I'm in one of those moods where I want nothing more than to have a really really long boozy lunch, but I can't because I am so behind on client work and deliverables.

So I sit here in the office wanting to be somewhere else....

It's Friday and it's raining

I have been a busy little bee this week finishing off a mjaor deliverable for a client and signing on a couple of new clients so I have not really been blogging much.

The boy has been away in Singapore for most of this week and gets back in about 7 hours which I am really looking forward to, the puppy is currently asleep on her blankie looking oh so cute and nothing like the mischevious little terror she can be lol.

She is behaving herself really really well and most of the time uses the piddle pad pee and poo, Only one time out of five does she go somewhere else in the apartment. So I have high hopes of training her into an obedient dog!

The adorable guy above is Justin:

Name: Justin
Age: 18
Zodiac: Gemini
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 150lb
Waist: 31"
Chest: 38"
Shoe Size: 12
Cock: 8" Cut & Thick
Physique: Lean

Biography:

Occasionally we find a guy that is truly innocent and ever so hot.
PerfectGuyz Justin is all of this and more. He’s a college age guy, about
5'10", 150lb, lapis blue eyes, short blonde hair, and a clean shaven handsome
face set against a lanky build. PerfectGuyz Justin could be the “boy next door”
or that “frat guy” you might see on campus, but the bottom line is that
PerfectGuyz Justin is the typical all American guy. For his age his is
surprisingly streetwise and mature. And, PerfectGuyz Justin is a natural
in front of the camera. He enjoyed “showing off” and teasing us with his
youthful sensuality. When Justin showed up in form fitting board shorts, it was
obvious that he had sizable bulge. It was only later that we saw the
“goods” - a huge 8-inch thick cock with hairless balls, sweet and
tight, mounted on a nice patch of blond pubic hair. Watching PerfectGuyz Justin
stroke his big thick cock is a real treat! Enjoy Justin in this special
PerfectGuyz video.

My Changing Body Shape

Since Starting on this episode of my changing body shape I have worked damn hard at the gym, as a general rule I have also cut out almost all fried foods, sugary foods and cut down on both the carbohydrates (well the empty carbs) and wine (so I have been drinking more vodka lime and sodas heheheh).

So what is the current shape of my body and how am I am on the objective of being trim by the end of the month?

I weigh roughly a little more than I did at the begginning, which is about 71-72 kgs (156 - 158 pounds).

I have no idea what my current body fat is because I have stopped using that damn lying bodyfat scale machine. After getting on it at the start of a workout and it telling me I had 16% bodyfat then getting on again at the end and it telling me I had 28% I decided it was teh devil incarnate and I refused to believe a thing it said!

Based on the pinch test (I pinch the front of my tummy and see how much I can grab, I would say that I have lost 1/2 of the fat there so far. So I am going well on the way!

But the most suprising thing for me in all of this is how well I feel and how much more eneregy I have. I also feel mentally better and my general level of anxiousness is much reduced!

So this obsession with getting in shape is having a positive impact on me!

Supplements & Progress

A few people have asked me about the supplements I am taking at the moment, well! The picture above was taken this morning to show just how obsessive I have become about the whole body image crisis. I had taken a whole lot of other pictures, but then I realised that I had forgotten the extra chewable Vitamin C tablets i use with the Carnitine in the evening. So from left to right:

  • Vitamin C 500 mg - At night 6 of these ground up with the Carnitine and Extra Creatine
  • Berocca - In the morning in a bottle of water
  • Liver Tonic - Only when I have been drinking (it is a foul liquid)
  • Liptitrone - Liver Tonic tablet three times a day to help my poor liver
  • Enervite Muscle Builder - dunno why but i will finsh the pack because I have it!
  • Metamcil Fibre Caps - 6 a day to help keep everything regular
  • Zinc 1 a day
  • L-Carnitine (see my previous post on Carnitine) before I work out
    Alcatyl - Carnitine
  • Bio C Slow Release in the morning
  • Executive B - 1 a day to reduce stress!

So yes I am obsessive about my what I take and about my workout because I want to meet my goals. The picture below was taken this morning and shows the current state of play with tummy.

If you look you can still see the curves at the sides which are what I am working real hard to get rid of hahahaha. I have always had a tummy that sticks out even when I had fabby abs, so my goal is to reduce it all so it will look all in the correct proportions.

A note about the picture, the pose actually makes the muscles look bigger tan they actually are hehehehe.

Abercrombie & Fitch

For those of you who do not get the A&F newsletter, may I suggest you start :)

Less Than Twenty Four Hours

In a little under twenty two hours the Space Station Discovery STS-121 will blast off from pad 39B heading to the International Space Station.

All my life I have wanted to watch the space shuttle take off and defeat earths gravity. In many ways the Space Shuttle program has been around my entire life, from when the shuttle's inception in the early seventies to the first shuttle launch On April 12, 1981 when I was nine.

I watched in horror in January 1986 when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded after takeoff and I watch again ith horror when the Space Shuttle Columbia came apart on re-entry.

NO matter the cost of the Space Shuttle program, the benefits both real and intrinsic far outweigh the cost. Mankind has always desired to "discover" and learn new things, both about themselves and the world in which we live in.

In twentyone hours I will be watching the launch and keeping my fingers crossed for a safe return of the crew of STS-121.
