Busy Busy Busy

Work and Life are just plain full on at the moment - aren't they always?

Work is piling up and coming through the doors at an amazing rate, but as always everyone wants things yesterday.

I will try and find some time this weekend to sit back and write abut some of my thoughts over the last couple of weeks

But for now servers are waiting.

Do they have a right to privacy?

The people and companies who donated more than $100 to have the anti- gay Proposition 8 enacted are crying invasion of privacy.

The donors names and addresses are all public under the law that states any Donor over $100 in California must be made public.

And the people have been subjected to harassment through the web, protests at their workplaces and in some cases boycotts of their businesses.

They are also now starting to fight back and try to undermine one of the basic underpinnings of political donations, transparency.

Whilst they have no problem taking other people's rights away, they want special rights to protect them from their 'invasion of privacy'.

They want the names of political donors to be kept private sch as theirs to stop what they believe is an invasion of their privacy and a subversion of their rights to free speech.

What a crock of shit!

Even more ironic is they are seeking to overturn Proposition 9, which was enacted to make political donations transparent.

To these people I say, "If you can't stand up and visibly say what you believe and instead want to subvert democracy without the consequence, then you don't want a democracy, you want a dictatorship'.

Struggling for Motivation

I am totally struggling for motivation this week.

There is lots of work I should be doing and lots of excitement and passion I should be applying but I just feel flat.

I have been relatively productive this week, having purchased and installed new computers for the office for the temps that will be in there for a few weeks working on a project.

And yesterday after hours and hours of research and discussion I ordered all the parts of the new VOIP PBX for the office.

Geekish I know.

But I don;t feel like buckling down to actual work.

Maybe I will feel better or more motivated when more people are back on board next week!

I’m just sitting in the lounge at Dubai International and thought I’d catch up
on your blog but I’m not able to access it as it contains content that is
prohibited under the UAE’s law LOL

Just thought I’d let you
know.

Catch you soon,

And today it's back to work

And today it's the first day of work for the new year today.

I went into the office yesterday just to check the mail and clean up some stuff that was lying around.

It felt weird let me tell you!

I have had two weeks off and have for once not sat on my phone or computer working away.

I think that when you try to take time off when people are working normal hours as we did in late November early December, you never really get the freedom from clients.

During the time off I have done a huge amount around the apartment, having built the new lounge area on the roof, done some re-arranging of stuff and done some painting.

All physical tasks which get me active and again away from the computer.

I have decided tat I will do one major physical task every month around the apartment.

This month it will be to make all the cushions for the lounge area I built.

Next month will be the new wall in the spare room;

Installing all the in ceiling speakers through the levels of the apartment so we can have piped music in all rooms and the roof)

The month after that will be building new under the stairs easy access storage

and the list goes on.

I had forgotten just how much I like to do physical stuff and how much satisfaction and stress relief it gives me too.

Today will mainly be a day of forward planning and talking to staff, clients and partners to work out the business year.

Even though there are signs that economically this year is going to be tough for the economy, I have a feeling this year is going to be a spectacular year for us and my company!

So welcome back to your work year and good luck!
